First Year Global Programs

The A&S First Year Global Program offers Dietrich School students their first opportunity to study abroad. Through this program, students will earn 3 credits while traveling with a small group of peers and a Pitt advisor for 10 days to two weeks after the spring semester of their Freshman year. All students, regardless of location, will take ARTSC XXXX, which we are currently in the process of proposing to satisfy the Specific Geographic Region general education requirement*.  Locations will change each year and while students won't be able to apply to a specific location but to the program overall, they will have the chance to rank their top locations.

Eligibility Requirements

Before you dive in to finding a program, you should make sure that you meet the minimum requirements to study abroad.  Because all programs offered by Pitt Global Experiences are academically rigorous and take place in varied cultural, safety, and legal climates, program managers and advisors thoroughly evaluate applications to each program. Please bear in mind that study abroad is a privilege, and the application process can be a competitive one.  You are required to complete a global experiences application regardless of the type of program that you choose.

The Global Experiences Office staff has the ultimate decision in whether or not you are eligible to participate on a program, regardless of the type of program to which you are applying and/or accepted by a program or partner institution.

Please note: all students must be 18 years old by the start date of their program.

Funding My Experience

Much like the countries and cultures in which you can study, the cost of participating in a program can vary widely and is affected by a variety of factors.  While you may want to focus on the more exciting aspects of the process, it is important to understand the total cost of your experience and the varying ways in which you can finance your program.
