Shaylyn Jurczyk (History)
The Advising Center helped guide me to where I want to be today, which I think is important for every student to experience.
I began my time at Pitt as a business major. My advisor helped me find classes that were important for me to take and that I would enjoy going to. He provided me with information on numerous majors, minors, and courses of study that were all of interest to me. He even encouraged me to find internships to develop my career path.
As I worked with my advisor, I realized that history was something that I have always loved and enjoyed, and I decided to change my major to history. My advisor was helpful, patient, and willing to work with me at any time to guide me in the right direction.
If you are unsure of what you want to study or learn, the Advising Center is the place to help you figure out your strengths and what you need to do to be successful. My advisor helped me find what my interests were. But even more importantly, he helped me figure out what major was right for me.
