Awards

Dean's Scholar Award

This award recognizes seniors who exemplify high scholarship, character, and devotion to the ideals of the University of Pittsburgh. Recipients will receive a $750 award.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Undergraduate student enrolled in the Dietrich School;
  • Will graduate with a Bachelors’ degree in December 2024, April 2025, or August 2025;
  • 3.85 minimum GPA (lower GPAs may be acceptable if the Associate Dean considers the student exemplary in other areas);
  • Student is planning to continue their education after graduation.

Perseverance Award

This award recognizes seniors who have overcome barriers and shown strength of character and resiliency in their academic and personal pursuits. Recipients will receive a $750 award.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Undergraduate student enrolled in the Dietrich School;
  • Will graduate with a Bachelors' degree in December 2024, April 2025, or August 2025;
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA);
  • Self-nominations are welcomed.

Service Award

This award recognizes the extraordinary impact seniors have on the success of their peers, the Dietrich School, and the broader community. Recipients will receive a $500 award

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Undergraduate student enrolled in the Dietrich School who has excelled in School-based peer/leadership positions and/or demonstrated innovative leadership within the School or broader community;
  • Will graduate with a Bachelors' degree in December 2024, April 2025, or August 2025;
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA);
  • Nominations accepted from supervisors or mentors.

Selection

Recipients will be selected by a committee chaired and appointed by the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and the College of General Studies. Recipients will be notified in the spring. 

Nomination Materials

Each nominator must submit the following: 

  • Nomination form
  • Letter of recommendation or a personal statement (if student is self-nominating). As the letter of recommendation or personal statement serves as the primary criteria for evaluation, please be as detailed as possible and use specific examples relevant to the award’s purpose so that the committee clearly understands the student’s impact on the Dietrich School and the surrounding community. Feedback from other sources may be included in the letter or personal statement. This might include comments or anecdotes from other faculty, staff, or students

  • The nomination form will be open Wednesday 1/8/25 - Wednesday 1/22/25 at 11:59 p.m.
